7  Spotter Network

NeoWeatherwall integrates with Spotter Network to show live storm-spotter positions and reports, with powerful filtering so you see only the spotters and reports that matter.

7.1 Signing in

Enter your Spotter Network username and password under Settings > Credentials. A separate Weather Pulse (AllisonHouse) login enables a real-time event stream. Once signed in, positions and reports stream live.

7.2 What you see

  • Spotter Positions: live markers whose icons distinguish Storm Chasers (mobile), Stationary Spotters, Emergency Vehicles, and Media Crews.
  • Spotter Reports: individual observation icons for Tornado, Rotation, Hail, Wind, and Other.
  • Callsign labels: each marker can show the spotter’s callsign.

Tap a spotter to open a detail sheet with their position, callsign, and recent reports.

7.3 Filtering

Spotter clutter is real during big events. Open the spotter filters to narrow the display:

7.4 Filter presets

One-tap presets configure the filters for common situations:

Preset Effect
All Everything, all report types
Severe Only Tornado/Rotation/Hail/Wind, 1″+ hail, 65+ mph, 3-hr reports
Tornado Focus Tornado/Rotation only, 15-min activity, 2-hr reports
Large Hail Hail only, Golf Ball+, 4-hr reports
Active Only All types, 5-min activity, 1-hr reports

7.5 Favorites and mutes

  • Favorite a spotter to always show them regardless of filters. Favorite info (icon, callsign) is stored offline for reference.
  • Mute a spotter to permanently hide them.

7.6 Spotter list view

A dedicated, searchable spotter list shows all currently filtered spotters with live position, callsign, and last report. Tap any entry for the full detail sheet, where you can favorite, mute, or review their recent reports.

WarningReports are observations, not warnings

Spotter reports are valuable ground truth but are not official products. Treat them as one input alongside radar and official warnings.
